A-THERMAL WINTER SPORT TOURNAMENT: 2014
Total Quality Education entails unleashing the latent potential of a school going child in terms of curriculum delivery (effective and efficient teaching and learning), co-curricular and extra-curricular involvement. The Vision of our School is all about Total Quality Education, and part of it's realisation of this is to raise the bar of Sports, where every learner at our School is encouraged to participate in at least one sporting code of his/her choice.
We do not, as a school, shy away from introducing new sporting codes to spoil our learners with choice, however smart or damn; rudimentary or sophisticated, benign or malignant, whimsical or mundane these sporting codes are. Our staff members are results oriented and always hit from the hip and punch above their weight when it comes to development of sports.
Our Annual Winter Sports Games (Netball and Soccer) started in 2013 during our School's Centenary Celebration. We pride ourselves with forging Public Private Partnership and it came as no surprise when A-Thermal, our local business giant partnered with us by sponsoring the Tournament through their Corporate Social Investment and Responsibilities. What served as a cherry on top was when they made an undertaking to continue with the sponsorship indefinitely, hence we named our Annual Tournament A-thermal Winter Sports Games in their honour and as a consequence of their commitment.
This year's (2014) Tournament took place on the 21 June 2014, and was graced by participation of 6 schools, viz ourselves (Olifantsfontein Primary, Bonaero Park, Chloorkop, Halfway House, Jeugpark and Midrand Primary. Believe you me no school above was selected because of mediocrity. On the contrary, no school was a pushover, as they were all prepared for the Tournament. Irrespective of how well they were prepared, we were also equal to the task. In fact, if you ask any of our learners participating in Sports, they will tell you that "Losing is never an option" at Olifantsfontein Primary. We did not disappoint as we emerged Sweepstake Winners in our U/11 Soccer and the runners-up is our U/13 Soccer. Our Girls in Netball also did not disappoint. Congratulations to our Boys and Girls, including their coaches.
In closing, I therefore, without favour or prejudice, do not hesitate to declare that our U/11 and U/13, both in Soccer and Netball respectively, who participated in our 2014 A-Thermal Winter Sports Tournament, are the dominant characters of my heart. They really excelled and dominated in their faculty of sport.
Compliments and Congratulations are in order for A-Thermal Retort Technologies (Pty) Ltd for remaining our official sponsor for our Annual Winter Sport Games, even in years to come.
